John Edward Roper COLUMBIA - Memorial service for John Edward Roper, 65, will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Family will receive friends following the service in the prayer garden at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel is assisting the family. Mr. Roper died Thursday, September 5, 2013. Born in Seoul, South Korea, he was the son of the late Mary Josephine Nettles and Arthur Earl Roper. Mr. Roper graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration. He taught Tae Kwon Do as an eighth degree black belt at USC. Mr. Roper worked as an agency manager for a Fortune 500 insurance company. He recently moved to California to be close to his children and grandchildren. Surviving are Ginger Roper; daughters, Caroline (Philippe Rolshausen) Roper of Riverside, Calif., Summer Roper of Hilo, Hawaii; grandchildren, Bella Rose Schein, Maxim Joseph Rolshausen and William Robinson Rolshausen. He was predeceased by his brother, Phillip Earl Roper and sister, Susan Green. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Building Fund, 3600 Devine Street, Columbia SC 29205.
