Lauretta Kampman Obituary

COLUMBIA - Lauretta June Nicely Dever Kampman, 91, formerly of Springfield, OH, entered into her eternal joy and glory on October 31, 2011, surrounded by her family. Born in Springfield, OH, Oct. 9, 1920, June was the oldest daughter of Warren F. and Esther E. Shirk Nicely. She raised her children, then worked at the Sears Catalog Desk, the former Guardian Bank, and retired from the Medical Records Department of the former Springfield Community Hospital. She was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church, Third Generation Cradle Roll, and longtime member of the adult Boco Class of Grace Church. Over the years June enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and cooking for her family and friends.

June spent many enjoyable hours with dear friends, Patty, Jo, Joanne, Esther, and others playing many games of cards. A lifelong resident of Springfield, OH, June enjoyed spending the last year of her life with her Columbia, SC, family.

June loved each of her family members so very much. She is survived by son, Allen (Rose) Dever of Spokane, WA; daughter, Marcia (Aaron) Osmon of Springfield; and son, Mark (Julie) Dever of Columbia, SC.; grandchildren, Kier (Kim) Stavig of Gig Harbor, WA, Terri (Tom) Paulsen of South Vienna, OH, Christi (Paul) Frea of London, OH, Jeff (Jamie) Dever of Columbia, SC, Derek Dever of Atlanta, GA, Cathy (John) Collins, Lexington, SC, Brad Dever, Denver, CO; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are a sister, Dherlys (Robert) Shaw of Urbana, OH; sister-in-law, Ruth Nicely of Springfield; stepchildren, Millie (John) Vollmer, Kevin (Tina) Kampman, Brian Kampman, Julia Kampman and Rob (Missy) Kampman; eight stepgrandchildren, and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald A. Dever in 1973, and Esmond "Izzy" Kampman in 1995; brothers, Richard Nicely and William Nicely; beloved grandson, Scott A. Flannery in 2004; and her dear aunt, Mabel Peel in 2009.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, 801 N. Limestone St., Springfield, OH. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church,1401 W. Main St., Springfield, with burial following in Donnelsville Cemetery, Donnelsville, OH. Aunt June was a great Aunt. She always made me feel at home when I was a young boy. I will miss the the picnics in the backyard of Grandpa's place .

To June's Family:
What a nice lady! One time as I was walking down the sidewalk in beautiful downtown Springfield, I met June and her Aunt Mabel as they were running errands. They were gabbing and laughing and having such a good time. That is how I will remember June.
