CHARLES STUDEBAKER
DECATUR — Charles Clifford Studebaker, 90, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Charles was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Jerseyville, Ill., the son of Homer and Geraldine (Bell) Studebaker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a submariner aboard the USS Gurnard (SSN-662) from 1943-1946. Before retirement he was previously employed at CIPS in the Jerseyville area, and then as a supervisor with IL Bell in Decatur. Charles attended church services at Imboden Gardens, was a master mason for fifty years, and enjoyed camping and hunting. He married Mary Lou Frazer March 12, 1948. They shared over sixty-six years together.
Charles leaves behind his beloved wife Mary Lou of Decatur, children Michael (Debi) Studebaker of Moro, Ill., Debi Studebaker of Grand Junction, Colo., and Mark Studebaker of Gilbert, Ariz., grandchildren, Amy (Casey) Iberg, Matthew (Raelyann) Lofland, Brandon Lofland, Dustin (Angel) Studebaker and Dillon, Zachary, Debbie and Niko Studebaker, great-grandchildren Zoe Studebaker, Trenton and Kimberly Lofland, and Brayden and Addison Iberg.
Charles was reunited in Heaven with his parents.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Gail and DJ Allman, the Decatur Fire Department, and all of Charles and Mary's friends for all of their care and support.
Services to celebrate Charles' life will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy and Macon County Honor Guard to conclude the service. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church Economy Shop or a charity of the donor's choice.
