ROBERT C. LECKRONE
SOUTH ROXANA — Robert C. Leckrone, 87, passed away and went to be with the Lord at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.
He was born on June 7, 1929, in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of the late Charles E. and Mary M. (McGregor) Leckrone. He married the former Edna Bubb on June 2, 1972, in Arkansas, and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Rita and Tom Kinney of Petaluma, California and their sons: Tom Kinney, Jr. and Jesse Kinney, Linda and Karl Kilgore of Denver, Colorado, and their sons: Kyle and his wife: Dalen, Kameron, one son and daughter in law: Robert and Annette Leckrone of Rushville, Illinois and their sons: Nick and his wife: Leanna, and Brandon Larsen, four great granddaughters: Cortnee, Madelyn, Harlie, Molley, a brother in law: Carroll Bubb of Hartford, many nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends from the Shell Refinery family, Bethel Free Will Baptist Church family, and his hunting friends: Lee Rapp, and Lyle Ruff.
Robert attended Shurtleff College and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. He was employed as a draftsman at Shell Refinery for 41 years prior to his retirement. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army where he was a paratrooper. He was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in South Roxana. He loved to fish and hunt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Edward Leckrone, three sisters in law: Joyce Leckrone, Betty McCombs, Janice Hardwick, and a brother in law: Darrell Bubb.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in South Roxana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Ricky Ham will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Union Cemetery in Lincoln, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to the Leckrone Scholarship at Welch College or to the Bethel Christian Academy Scholarship Fund.
