Mary Mangione Obituary

Mary Lucille Bufano Mangione, 97, of South Scranton, formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday at the Mercy Hospice Unit. She and her husband, Joseph J. Mangione, who died in 1992, were married on Nov. 24, 1951.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Martino and Angela Marangi Bufano, she was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, now St. Paul of the Cross Parish, South Scranton. She was a graduate of the Penn State Academy of Beauty Culture and for many years, she was a licensed beautician and employed by Andre Hair Stylists in Bronxville, N.Y.

Surviving are a son, Joseph C. Mangione, Baltimore; a sister, Anna Cloruri, with whom she resided; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Cannella, Antonia Bufano, Pearl Clark and Lane Chickillo; and five brothers, Ignazio Bufano, Martin Bufano Sr., Francesco Bufano, Frank Bufano and Martin C. Bufano.

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff at the Mercy Hospice Unit, Dr. James J. McKenna, the Rev. Scott Sterowski and Monsignor Philip Gray for their kindness, compassion and assistance throughout Mary's final days.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., with Mass at 10 in St. Francis of Assisi Church at St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 630 Genet St., to be celebrated by Monsignor Philip Gray and the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor. Entombment, Dulaney Valley Memorial Mausoleum, Timonium, Md.

Friends may call Tuesday, 5 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.

My deepest sympathy in the loss of a dear ,sweet woman. I've only known Mary a few years,since she has been coming to my Salon,but have loved her warm nature and endearing stories of her life.She will truly be missed, an angel, a lovely woman. Annette Grudzinski Style One Salon
