Nancy Ackroyd

Nancy Ackroyd, 70, of Scranton, died Wednesday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. She was the wife of Paul J. Ackroyd. The couple would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 29.

Born Feb. 24, 1943, daughter of the late Marjorie and Clifford Sherbourne, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and worked as a beautician for many years. Most recently, she was employed by Book Swap in the Keyser-Oak Plaza. Nancy was a member of St. Paul's Parish in Scranton.

Nancy was a loving wife, mother and Grammy to Brayden, the light of her life.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Regional Hospital for their wonderful care.

Also surviving are a daughter, Michelle Ackroyd, Scranton; a son, Paul Ackroyd and wife, Shannon, Scranton; a grandson, Brayden Ackroyd; aunts and cousins; and her best friends, Barbara Hall and Diane Vaughn.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Fahey, in 2007; and a baby daughter, Cheryl Ackroyd.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
