Sidney Burnside Sr.

Sidney Burnside Sr., Moosic, died Saturday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Twp. His wife is the former Darlene Bailey.

Born in Pittston, son of the late Sidney and Violet Gregory Burnside, he graduated from Pittston High School and had worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot as an electrical supervisor for several years and later worked at McKinney Manufacturing before retiring. He was a member of the Moosic Sportsman's Club, VFW Post 5207, Moscow, and the American Legion Post 604, Moosic. He had served with the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Sidney was loved by his family and friends and will be missed very much. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors.

Also surviving are two sons, Sidney Burnside Jr., Avoca; and Wade Bailey and his wife, Judy, Scranton; three brothers, Robert and his wife, Roberta; and Marshal, both of Moosic; and Martin, Pittston; three grandchildren, Bryanna and Ethan Burnside, and Bobbi Lynn Bailey; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Isabel and Sally; and a brother, Edward.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 422 S. Main St., Taylor, with services by the Rev. Tawan Bailey, pastor of the Bethel AME Church, Scranton. Interment will be at Langcliffe Cemetery, Avoca.
