Barry Eppler Obituary

Barry L. Eppler, 58, of Peckville, died Saturday at home. He was the husband of the former Patricia "Patti" Mullisky. They would have been married for 25 years on Nov. 18.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late Talbert and Eleanor Gretschel Eppler, Barry was a graduate of Crestwood High School and attended Luzerne Community College and the Computer Processing Institute in Paramus, N.J. He served in the Army as a senior military police officer at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a union representative at Verizon and was the president of the Eynon-Archbald Lions Club. Before retirement, he worked for NYNEX Corp. in New York and New Jersey as an outside plant technician and as a service technician with Verizon in Dunmore. He was an avid fan of Penn State and the Minnesota Vikings and will be sadly missed by all his friends and family and his furry little buddy, Lucky.

Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Hanna George, Hanover Twp.; and Lisa Kelly, Archbald; and nieces and nephews, Susan, Robert and Eric Eppler, and Kyle Kelly.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Talbert.

The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Christ the King Parish at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Sahd, pastor. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call today, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville. The Lions Club will conduct a memorial service at 7.

I was a CWA union representative with Barry. You had to see him in action to truly appreciate what he brought to the table. He was so professional and organized when presenting a labor grievance. If you were in trouble you wanted Barry in the room. He truly missed his calling he should have been a defensive lawyer! I can't tell you how many people he helped and touched with his kindness at Verizon. I'm a better man for knowing you. You will always be my friend and union brother. In Unity: Karl

Barry was the finest, kindest neighbor everyone hopes they could have.

He was considerate and always willing to help. He's probably in heaven now doing odd jobs for folks.

My wife and I already miss him so much.

Rest well, Friend
