Robert Komnath Obituary

Robert T. Komnath, 70, a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre Twp., died Sunday.

Son of the late George Sr. and Helen Esack Komnath Sr., he was a 1963 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Twp. High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Wilkes College and a master's degree from Marywood University, Scranton.

Before retirement, he was employed for the past 35 years at Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke. He was a life member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, former Wilkes-Barre Twp. Councilman, served on the Twp. Zoning Board and was on the Board of the Wilkes-Barre Twp. Settlement Camp.

Surviving are his beloved wife, the former Jane M. Yarina; children, Kimberly Ellis, Tunkhannock; Christopher Komnath and Sara Komnath, both of Wilkes-Barre Twp.; four grandchildren, Alexander, Zachary and Kyle Senchak, and Kennedy Jane Jones; brothers, John, Edward, William, Joseph and Richard Komnath; sisters, Ellen Petyo, Mary Feher, Leona Kuehner and Jo Ann Uibelhoer; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services and Panachida will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 281 E. Northampton St., Wilkes-Barre, with Office of Christian Burial at 10:15 in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 526 Church St., Wilkes-Barre Twp. Interment, Holy Assumption of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.

Friends may call Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m. Parastas, 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Prescription Relief Fund c/o Dr. David Greenwald, 382 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704. For condolences, visit the funeral home website.

Spent many, many, years in junk yards looking for parts for junk cars that we put together. Built a hot rod, a '48 Austin that we also chopped and put a 421 Pontiac engine in it. Had a lot of fun. I'll miss that boy. Jane, so sorry for your loss.
