Reverend Harry E. Hoffmaster

The Reverend Harry E. Hoffmaster Marysville The Reverend Harry E. Hoffmaster, 90, of Marysville, entered into Eternal Life on Friday, March 19, 2010. He was born in Toledo, OH on July 20, 1919, a son to the late Harry E. Hoffmaster, Sr. and Marie Jessie (Beck) Hoffmaster. Prior to the priesthood, Fr. Harry was employed by Ford Motor Co. in the central office, Dearborn, Michigan, 1947-1960 and he served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during WW II 1941-1945. Fr. Hoffmaster was ordained to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ on December 4, 1970 at the age of fifty. He served as Transitional Deacon in St. Joseph Church, Erie, MI and his Pastorates included St. Peter the Apostle Church, Harper Woods, 1970-1980 and All Saints Church, Memphis, MI, 1980-1990 and he also served as Vicar of the Serf Vicariate in Detroit (one term) and of the Blue Water Vicariate (two terms). Fr. Harry retired in June of 1990 and assisted at other churches in the Blue Water area including St. Mark's Church, Harsens Island, Holy Cross Church, Marine City, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission, Port Huron. Fr. Hoffmaster is survived by his first cousin, Alfred Beck of OH; and second cousins, Peter Beck of Royal Oak and David Beck of IL. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron on Tuesday at 12 noon in Our Lady on the River Parish's Holy Cross Church, Marine City. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Fr. Harry's family will welcome visitors in Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City, on Monday 4-7 p.m. and in the church on Tuesday 11 a.m. - 12 noon.
