James E. Fortune

Kimball Township

James E. Fortune, 82, of Kimball Township, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014.

He was born January 11, 1932 in Detroit. He married Carol Lorraine McQuarrie in 1955 in Marlette. She died February 6, 2002.

Mr. Fortune was an over-the-road truck driver. He was a past member of Moose Lodge #158 and Blue Water Aerie #3702 F.O.E.; and a member of V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post #796, American Legion Charles Hammond Post #8 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter #12.

He is survived by three sons, Kenneth (Suellyn) Fortune of Jeddo, Brian Fortune and Donald Fortune, both of Clyde; six daughters, Vickie (Ken) Crago of Marysville, Sharon (Robert) Krause of Titusville, Florida, Brenda (Tim) Arnold of Port Huron Township, Bonnie (John) Howard of Port Huron, Karen (Jim) Hill of Kimball and Laurie (John) Lapierre of Petrolia, Ontario; 23 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Corrine McQuarrie of Ocala, Florida; an unofficially adopted son, Clint (Leanne) Dobson of Marysville and their family; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth and Marge Mahaffy; and two sisters, Mary and Linton Cooper and Betty and Joe Valentine.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend John Minor of Mt. Pleasant Bible Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nicholas and Jeremy Fortune, Richard Fortune, James Hill, Clint Dobson and Dave Portis.  Graveside military honors will be held under the auspices of the Allied Veterans Council.
