Doris Amick Obituary


BURLINGTON - Mrs. Doris Brammer Amick, 90, of 2236 W. Front St., Burlington, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at her home.
A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Amick was the wife of Thomas Bennett Amick, who survives, and the daughter of the late John L. Brammer and the late Sarah Alcorn Brammer.
Mrs. Amick was retired from the financial department of AT&T and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a member of St. Mark's Reformed Church, where she worked in the nursery for many years.
In addition to her husband, Bennett, of the home, Mrs. Amick is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Firth and her husband Jerry, of Burlington; a son, Rick Amick and his wife Brenda, of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Karen Simpson, Michael Firth, Tyson, Amick and Holly Cunningham; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorene Harrod, of Burlington.
Mrs. Amick was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Cox; and five brothers, Paul Brammer, George Brammer, Claude Brammer, Lawrence Brammer and Russell Brammer.
The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington, Wednesday, March 2, from 6 until 8 p.m. and immediately following the memorial service Thursday. When not at the funeral home, the family will be at the residence.
A memorial service will be held at Thursday, March 3, at 2 p.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert M. Disher Jr.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.

Bonnie and Rick,
Sorry to hear about your mother, she was a great lady, have very good menories of her when growing up and coming to her house after school. She was a wonderful and will be missed. Please call if I can do anything. I know you will miss her dearly.
