Carol Fray Obituary

GRAHAM –- Mrs. Carol Stockard Fray, 81, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Thursday, April 4, 2013.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late James G. Fray and the daughter of Lee Stockard and Nellie Reavis Stockard, both deceased.
Carol was a graduate and valedictorian of Graham High School, a 1953 graduate of WCUNC (now UNC–G) where she graduated Cum Laude and attended Yale Graduate School of Micro Biology. She worked for National Health Lab in Missola, Montana. In 1955, she returned to Graham and retired from Carolina Biological Supply after 22 years.
Mrs. Fray was a lifelong member of Graham Presbyterian Church, where she was a member and teacher of the Friendship Sunday School Class of which she loved the sisterhood and served as Elder of the church for two terms. She received the Life Member Award from the Presbyterian Women and served as Moderator of the Presbyterian Women.
Carol enjoyed flower gardening and sharing flowers, UNC Tar Heels basketball and collecting porcelain dolls (especially red-haired ones). She also loved family gatherings.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Fray Bell and husband Dan of Herndon, Va., Lynn Fray Sykes of Gibsonville and Clara Fray of the home; one son, Gil Fray, of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Scott Bell and wife Angela, Brian Bell, Jonathan Bell and Bonnie Sykes; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Alexia; two brothers, Ralph Stockard and wife Hilda and William Stockard and wife Eva; one niece; three nephews; and four great-nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at Graham Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. by Dr. Steve Braswell, with the family receiving friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Graham Presbyterian Church, 216 West Harden Street, Graham, NC 27253 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham is in charge of arrangements.
