Edna Ellis Obituary

HILLSBOROUGH - Mrs. Edna Louise Scearce Ellis, 86, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, in Durham Regional Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Mary Ellen Neighbours and Leonard L. Scearce. She was a native of Orange County, a graduate of Hillsboro High School and Croft Business School. She retired from Cone Mills and was a life long member of First Baptist Church of Hillsborough where she served on several committees. She served on the Hillsborough Planning Board and Meals on Wheels and was an officer for the Counsel on Aging.
Surviving are her son, Nat Ellis Jr. (Bonnie), her grandson, Nat "Trey" Ellis III, and nieces and nephews as well as her best friend, Mary Fox. Edna was predeceased by her parents as well as her two brothers, Norman L. Scearce and Herman Scearce and sister, Shirley Mae Scearce Bass.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in Walker's Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Randy Carter. Burial will be in the Hillsborough Town Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 223 W. King St., Hillsborough, N.C. 27278
