Benny Melder Obituary
Pitkin - Homegoing services for Benny James "Jim" Melder will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Freedom Baptist Church of Pitkin with the Revs. Ricky Belgard, Jeremy McCrory, and Jeff James officiating. Committal service will follow in the Occupy #1 Cemetery of Pitkin under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Jim, 80, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in his residence. He was born on May 21, 1937 in Many to the union of Anthony Melder and Kathryn Britt Melder. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pitkin, a retired maintenance supervisor for Boise Cascade of 39 years, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Preceding him is death were his parents, Rev. Anthony Melder and Kathryn Britt Melder; one son, James Spencer Melder; two baby siblings; two brothers. A.D. Melder, and Joseph Melder; one sister, Lucille Melder.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Billie Faye Willis Melder of Pitkin; one son, Jeffrey A. Melder of Pitkin; one daughter in law, Dorothy Willis Melder of Pitkin; two brothers, Sammy Melder of Tioga, and John David Melder of Pineville; one sister, Margaret Willis Franz of Zwolle; three grandchildren, James Stewart Melder, Jeffrey Paul Melder, and Jennifer Melder (James Robert) Bromund; three great grandchildren, Jameson, Elena and Aubrey Bromund; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Eric Willis, Robert Friday, Leslie Maddox, Jared Doyle, Rodney Thompson, and C.J. Doyle.
Friends may call today from 8 a.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. in the Freedom Baptist Church.
