Charles Barbera Obituary
Charles Gerard Barbera, 61, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 20, 2011 from his home in Boyce.
He is preceded in death by his father, Salvador J. Barbera, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Mary LaMartiniere Barbera of Boyce; daughter, Collette Barbera; mother, Marjorie Barbera; sisters, Jean Duhon and Janet Kimp of Gonzales; God Mother, Marilyn Barbera of New Orleans.
Charles was a retired Principal of Gonzales Middle School. He was fondly called Mr. B by his students and faculty, Jerry by family and Cuz by his friends. He was an avid gardener and cook. He was crowned the Don of Italian cooking for the crew of Bayou LaRoux 2010. He was a volunteer and mentor for the Grand Power Program of Alexandria. At his request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand Power Program, P.O. Box 8804, Alexandria, LA 71306-1804.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.

Dad, it is a really sad day...I grieve for the suffering you had to endure and for the days ahead not having you in my life. You are in my thoughts everyday, and I hope that you are now truly at peace and walking in the light of the Lord. Charles was a great friend and mentor. I will miss him dearly. He and his family will be in my prayers. I look forward to sharing memories of Charles at the celebration of his life.
