E.j. Gunter Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. E.J. "Howard" Gunter will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Rush Chapel, Hineston, Louisiana with the Reverend Kevin Boles officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Cemetery, Montrose/Cloutierville, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, Louisiana.
Mr. Gunter, age 64 of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Friday, December 2, 2016 in his residence.
Howard was a contractor for many years, building rail cars and he worked in the nuclear power plant industry. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing when he got the chance. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Gunter is preceded in death by his son, Bart Gunter; his father, E.J. Gunter; his sister, Vivian Lejune; his grandparents, Elmer & Audrey Gunter and Willie & Susie Marshall.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 26 years, Carol Gunter; his daughter, Gina Gunter Green (Grant) of New Iberia, Sherry of Massachusetts; his sons, Garth Gunter of New Iberia, David O'Neal of Florida, George O'Neal of Massachusetts; his mother, Lillian Franks of Cloutierville; his step-mother, Clara Gunter of Elmer; his brothers, Robert Gunter (Betty) of Cloutierville, Gene Franks (Pam) of Pineville, Jody Franks (Wendy) of Alma, AR, Jimmy Franks (Tammy) of Plaquemine, John Gunter (Peggy) of Elmer, Jake Gunter (Jennifer) of Elmer; his sisters, Gaynell Durison (Bobby) of Otis, Betty Sue Franks (Bobby) of Boyce, Jennifer Delacerda (Robert) of Cloutierville, Annette Rabelais (Carl) of Simmsport, Lolla Rhodes of Marksville; his grandkids, Daija Green, Arienna Green and 13 other grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at Rush Chapel, Hineston, Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. & will resume Monday, December 5, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Robert Gunter, Gene Franks, Jody Franks, Jimmy Franks, Sam Franks, Nathan Delacerda and Gene Harold Gunter.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Aime Hospice Care and all staff for their care and dedication they provided to our family in our time of need.

Sorry Carol and to Howards family for your loss. I will always remember Howie for his crawdad boil and the many times he made us lobsters and steamers. And the time he spent with us a few summers ago. He was a very caring and generous man. I will miss the good times we shared with his wife and his sense of humor. Rest in Gods peace.
