Eric Watkins Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eric Watkins will be celebrated by Rev. Craig Scott at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 23, 2016, at St. Rita Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Hemphill Star Cemetery, Boyce, under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 22, 2016, and resume from 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. on Friday, September 23, 2016, at John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 22, 2016, in the Kramer Chapel.
Eric Watkins, 36, of Boyce, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer in CHRISTUS Grace Home surrounded by his family.
Eric is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Eugene "Jack" Watkins and Sibyl Watkins Miller; step-grandfather, J.T. Miller; and maternal grandparents, Lemuel and Eubulus Goleman.
Eric was an avid team roper and deer hunter. He worked with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Dept. for 12 years before joining Kodiak Gas Services as a sales representative. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Stefanie Thiels Watkins; son, Ethan Watkins; daughter, Olivia Watkins; parents, Todd and Nadine Watkins; brother, Rod Watkins (Kim); sister, Roxanne Watkins; father and mother-in-law, Jimbo and Sandy Thiels; two brother-in-laws, Scotty Thiels and Eric Thiels (Brandi); sister-in-law, Julie DeKeyzer (Justin) along with his nieces and nephews, Austin, Emilia, Liam, Eli, Deklan and Lucy.
Pallbearers honored to serve include Rod Watkins, Dan Coombs, Scotty Thiels, Eric Thiels, Justin DeKeyzer, Chris Perry, Kelby Danes, and Mark Tatum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Our Lady of Prompt Succor School, 420 21st Street, Alexandria, LA 71301; or, St. Rita Catholic Church, 3822 Bayou Rapides Rd., Alexandria, LA 71303.
