Funeral services for John White will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2016 at Camp 8 Pentecostal Church in Otis with Reverend Sam Russell and Reverend Danny George officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Fort Polk Honor Guard. Committal service will follow at Camp 8 Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Alexandria.

John, 89, of Boyce, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 01, 2016 at Matthews Memorial Health Care Center in Alexandria. He was born April 13, 1927 in Alexandria to the union of Walter Lee White and Jessie Lee Perkins White. He was a Pentecostal by faith and member of the Camp 8 Pentecostal Church. He was drafted in the United States Army and served in WWII. On May 10, 1947, John married the love of his life, Alice Peddy. John was a diesel mechanic, working on heavy equipment. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Willie M. White, James Asberry White, and Huey White.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 69 years, Alice White of Boyce; one son, Johnny Ray (Rita) White of Alexandria; two daughters, Cherilyn Kay (Brian) Cloud of Glenmora and Jan Renee (Danny) Perry of Alexandria; two brothers, Oscar Boyd White and William Jessie White both of Marianna, Florida; two sisters, Earline Register and Juanita Mayo both of Vernon, Florida; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers to serve will be Jesse Melder, Lee Book, Randal Cooper, Jared Cloud, Kevin Ashworth, and Mike Gaspard.

Visitation will be held at Camp 8 Pentecostal Church on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., then on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 8 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at church.
