Joseph Vermaelen Obituary
GLENMORA - Joseph C. Vermaelen, 72, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. A member of UA Local 198 in Baton Rouge, Joseph worked as a pipefitter and welder. Joseph was a member of the Trinity Masonic Lodge #372.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Virginia Rougeou Vermaelen and his sister Catherine V. Stokes.
He is survived by one brother John Vermaelen of Houston, TX, and two sisters Mary V. Boswell (Jerry) and Edwina V. Dobernig (Rodney) both from Boyce, LA, and numerous nieces and nephews.-
Joseph donated his body to science, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

My Uncle Joe had a special way of smiling at me every time I saw him that made me feel like I was important to him. Even though I lived far away and didn't get to see him often, when we did see each other it was as if no time had passed at all. I loved Uncle Joe and will keep his smile in my heart until we meet again. Until then....I'm getting a kick out of imagining him and Aunt Catherine "laughing it up" in heaven! My condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends.
