James Norman (Pat) Miller

Services for Mr. James Norman (Pat) Miller will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Brother Steve Miller and Brother James Seaman officiating. Burial will be in Burrough Cemetery.

The family requests that visitation be observed Wednesday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will be Attorney Eric Miller, Randy Miller, Russell Miller, Lt. Konley Johnson, Cyrus Vaziri, James Simms, Kevin Johnson and E. J. Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Chandler, Toney Vanasselberg, Rut Hyames, Carl Chelette.

Mr. James Norman (Pat) Miller, 90, of Alexandria, passed from this life Sunday, August 6, 2017 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospice.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, James Travis Miller and Savella Miller, Sisters, Marjorie Miller Wall and her husband, Ralph Wall, Mildred Idell Miller Hanus and husband Leo Hanus. Brothers, James Travis (JT) Miller and wife, Sybil Watkins Miller, Marion Miller who died as an infant, and a nephew, Tommy Glenn Brawner.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nona Lee, brothers, Benjamin (Ben) Miller, Mason (Mick) Miller and his wife, Linda Miller, his sister, Anna Miller Aertker, three children; Greg Miller Sandifer, and wife Danna of Hopkinsville, KY, Debbie Dunn and husband Chelsey of Hopkinsville, KY and Dona Cooksey of Fairhope, Al. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Miller was born in Gardner, LA. As a young man, he attended China Grove Baptist Church in Gardner, La. He graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1945 with honors. After graduation he served for two years in the U. S. Army as a Military Policeman as a Staff Sargent. After his tour in the Army, he attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. and LSU at Baton Rouge. After college he went into business for himself as a residential/commercial remodeling contractor installing underground electrical wiring and water lines. During this time, he became a Notary Public until 2017

Mr. Miller was a member in the Alexandria Chapter of the Civitan Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Burrough Cemetery Association from 1966-2016.

Mr. Miller was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with friends and family. Mr. Miller believed in his family and was always there in times of need.
