Carolyn Poe Obituary
Funeral services for Carolyn Farmer Poe will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the Lone Star Baptist Church with Brother Dwayne Davis and Brother James Hebert officiating. Committal service will follow in the Lone Star Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Carolyn, 62, of Hineston, entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the Grace Home of Alexandria. She was born March 4, 1953 in Alexandria to Charlie Farmer and Marie Akins Farmer. She was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church. She worked at Cubic Defense as a Role Player and she loved her role play family. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charlie Farmer; her son, Michael Rutledge; nephew, Eric Farmer; grandparents, John and Ella Akins, Jesse and Lula Farmer.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are: her mother, Marie Farmer; her loving husband of 40 years, Rodney Poe; two daughters, Shannon Poe Hunt and Lea Ann Poe (Jesse) Thacker; grandchildren, Hogan Thacker, Chasity Hunt, Dalton Thacker, Cole Hunt, and Olivia Thacker; sister, Bobbie (Eddie) Afeman; brother, Randy (Delores) Farmer; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be James Smith, Bubba Smith, Charles Afeman, Christopher Matkin, Jason Poe, and Jesse Thacker. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be her grandsons, Hogan Thacker, Dalton Thacker, and Cole Hunt.
Visitation will be in the Lone Star Baptist Church, Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 5 p.m. until service time on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11 a.m.

Dear Ones: I know the void left in your life must be so deep. Carolyn had a uniqueness about her; it didn't matter if you hadn't spoken with her in months or even years, it was just like you had visited with her yesterday. Family, this is a gift not everyone has. Our lives will be barren without her in it, until our Lord floods our hearts and minds with wonderful memories of this truly special lady. I am so sorry to learn of Carolyn's death. We were classmates at Oak Hill from 1st thru 12th grades. We were only 4 days apart in age. Even though we had not seen each other in years I always thought of Carolyn on March 4th. May God be with the family during this time. I will remember you in my prayers.

Mamma Poe - I'll never forget how you had a way of making me always feel welcome and loved all the times I stayed the night at your home when Shannon and I were kids plus all the trips to the skate rink. I haven't hugged your neck in years but know I'll get the chance in Heaven. Hugs and Love always.

Our hearts are saddened by the home going of Carolyn. I have such wonderful childhood memories of us all growing up. She was always so lively at the yearly Christmas Parties at Lone Star Baptist Church that we would all attend with our mothers. It was always so much fun. She will be greatly missed but her memory will be forever in my heart! She was a precious person and will always be a precious memory.
