Lloyd Johnson Obituary

Lloyd F. "Freddie" Johnson

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Lloyd Frederick Johnson, aged 83 of Pineville, announce his death on Monday, August 17, 2015, at Oak Haven Community Care Center, resulting from a period of long declining health. Although we are sad to see him depart this life, we believe he no longer suffers from the disease that robbed him of his ability to walk and do all of the things he loved to do. We further believe that he has been reunited with his Creator, through his faith in and service to Jesus Christ. He now joins his loved ones who precede him in death--his parents, one brother, Charles Larry Johnson; a niece, Alice Mott, and a nephew Grant Eugene Johnson.

A Celebration of the life of Lloyd Frederick Johnson was held Thursday, August, 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Jordan officiating. Burial followed in Union Hill Cemetery, Calcasieu, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.

Born to the union of Lloyd and Eula Johnson of the Union Hill Community, the oldest of six children. As a young man, he served in the United States Army and later attended Northwestern State College in Natchitoches and achieved a B.S. in Accounting. Shortly after he started his career with CLECO, he married Beaulah Estelle Strother Johnson of Pineville. They shared fifty-five years of married life together.

After some time living and working in Pineville, he accepted a position in the Accounting Department. He moved his wife and new daughter, Phyllis to Lafayette, Louisiana. He would spend the majority of his career in Lafayette. With the addition of his son, Jeffrey and another daughter, Kristy, he and his wife would raise their family surrounded by the Emmanuel Baptist Church family of Lafayette. Lloyd served the congregation there as deacon, church treasurer, and along with his wife, taught Sunday School. In later years, both he and Estelle became active in the church choir. He also enjoyed bowling with friends from CLECO and the Lafayette Lions Club.

In 1986, he moved his family to Pineville when CLECO transferred all employees to a central office there. He retired with 37 years of service from CLECO. He continued to serve his community by becoming a member of the Pineville Lions Club. He was also active in Pineville Park Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church and lastly, Philadelphia Baptist Church. He was a member of the Gideon's, and spent many days after retirement distributing New Testaments to schools, organizations, and prisons.

If anything could be said about him, it is that he loved God, he served others, and cherished his family.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Beaulah Estelle Johnson of Pineville; his children, Phyllis Michelle Johnson Krebsbach and husband, Jeff of Pineville; Jeffrey Kyle Johnson and wife, Amy of Pineville; and Kristy Anne Johnson Rachal and husband, Darron of Boyce; his grandchildren, Kyle David Krebsbach of Austin, Texas; Jordan Michelle Krebsbach of St. Louis, Missouri; Kendall LeeAnne Krebsbach of Baton Rouge; Kathryn Elizabeth Miller of Boyce; and Olivia Jane Johnson of Pineville; brothers, Gerald Johnson and wife, Mary Ann, Scott Johnson and wife, Fanny; sisters, Patsy Cloud and husband, Ronald and Mary Alice Mott and husband, Kenneth.

Pallbearers honored to serve were Jeffrey K. Johnson, Jeff Krebsbach, Darron Rachal, Jason Johnson, Terry Harris and Ronald Aaron Cloud.

As an additional expression of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Gideon's International; PO Box 7676, Alexandria, LA 71306

Estelle, we are so sorry to know that you are going through tough days giving up Lloyd. Still have fond memories of serving in several capacities together at Pineville Park and look forward to the day when we all get to sing together again in the best Choir of all! Until then, you're in our prayers.
