Helen Carroll Obituary
Services for Mrs. Helen C. Carroll will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 20, 2015 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, with Reverend David Boothe officiating. Burial will be in Hemphill Star Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Will Nichols, Ronnie Smith, David Smalley, Mike Miller and Dr. Lance Templeton. Honorary pallbearers are Cleo Nichols, Leo Nichols, Buster Fontenot and Charles Smith.
Mrs. Carroll, 78, of Alexandria entered eternal rest on Friday, September 18, 2015 at her residence.
She was retired from the State of Louisiana after more than 20 years of service as Administrator of Forest Glen Complex for Vocational Rehabilitation. She also worked for 6 years as the Administrator for Rapides Chemical Dependency Unit. Mrs. Carroll was also an owner/consultant for a worker's compensation case management company for 10 years.
Mrs. Carroll loved family and the holidays were important to her. She loved her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel. She was deeply loved and will be missed but never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by parents, John and Edna Nichols Clark and sister, Hilda Monk.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, Elwood Carroll; son, John Carroll (Mary); daughter Dr. Lori Carroll; grandchildren, Megan Carroll Smalley (David), Melanie Carroll.

Elwood, John, Lori and family, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Helen. We were your back yard neighbors in Pineville for years, (we moved just last year) we always enjoyed visiting, especially when Carrie and Mark were young and I wasn't working. I love the way you added that she loved the holidays, I remember how she decorated for each holiday. I will miss her smile. She will certainly be missed by all, I am sorry that we haven't visited much in the past few years. We couldn't make it to the service last week, Preston has had Parkinsons/Lewy Body Dementia for the past 7 years and it is difficult to get out, last Sunday was an especially bad day for him. You are in our prayers.

Lori, John, Mr. Elwood and family: my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have many fond memories of Mrs. Helen especially during the month the month or more that I stayed with The Carroll family following Hurricane Katrina. Her kindness and hospitality will never be forgotten. Lori, I know she was your best friend and your biggest supporter. She may be gone but she's never going to be forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I worked with her at Rapides CDS. We worked hard starting from the ground up, but we also had lots of good times, many laughs. She was a super great boss and a super great person. I will be praying for all of you.

I an very sorry to hear of the Carroll family's loss. I have had the privilege of knowing all the Carrolls for ten years and can emphatically state that they are top drawer people.
