Arthur Melder Obituary
Funeral services for "Chester" Arthur Melder, Jr. will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in the Gospel Baptist Church in Glenmora with Reverend Charles Robinson, Reverend Wayne Dunn, and Reverend Bert Riddle officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Navy honor guard. Committal service will follow in the Melder Family Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Chester, 89, of Glenmora, entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 19, 2015 in Glenmora with his loving family by his side. He was born June 24, 1926 in McNary to Chester Arthur Melder, Sr. and Manilla "Mae" Clark Melder. He was a graduate from Glenmora High School in 1943. Chester enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 serving his country in WWII. He retired from Brown & Root as electrician after 22 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stephen Randall "Randy" Melder; one daughter, Renae Strother; and three sisters, Elmer Oberia Melder, Ava Ione Benn and Carolyn "Tac" Ware.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 41 years, Yvonne Melder of Glenmora; five sons, Arthur Zane Melder of Kentwood, David Wetzel Melder of Pittsburgh, Pennsyvania; Lewis Greg Laurendine of Glenmora; Ricky Darryl Laurendine of Glenmora; Randy Carl Laurendine of Oakdale; three daughters, Anita Y. Jones, Marica Pesina, and Anna Cano all of Baytown, Texas; one sister, Rubye Riddle of Glenmora; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Sean Melder, J. C. Melder, Michael Jones, Jeremy Jones, Eli Laurendine, and Dewayne Laurendine. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Jamie Mott, Jacob Pesina, Joshua Pesina, Randall Glen Strother, Ryan Strother, Israel Nunez, Jeffery Mills, and Joey Pesina.
Visitation will be held in the Gospel Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., then on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 9 a.m. until service time in the church.

Rest in peace, Uncle Chet. I will never forget you, nor especially how fine a brother you have been to my mother. I will as well always honour your war service to our country. It is a privilege to call you my kin, and I will miss you.
