Funeral services for Elza Sweat, Jr. will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel with Reverend Greg Willis and Reverend Jerry Odom officiating. Committal service will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Elza, Jr., 79, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Monday, October 05, 2015 in the Oakdale Community Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born September 2, 1936 in Pitkin to Elza Sweat, Sr. and Samantha Cloud Sweat. He was a Baptist by Faith and a wood hauler.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ludrend Sweat and Donald E. Sweat; three brothers, Raymond Sweat, Lester Sweat, and R.B. Sweat; and one sister, Maurice Stokes.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 59 years, Ethel Ware Sweat of Oakdale; one son, Rodney Sweat of Oakdale; two daughters, Diane Sweat and Jackie Sweat of Oakdale; one brother, Jerry Sweat of Vidalia; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., then on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 9 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. in the chapel.
