Douglas Sermons Obituary
Services for Douglas "Pruitt" Sermons will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Beechwood United Pentecostal Church, Hineston with Rev. Tom Murphy officiating. Visitation will be from 5PM until 10PM Wednesday, October 7th and from 8AM until time of service Thursday, October 8th at the church. Interment will be at Beechwood United Pentecostal Church Cemetery under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria.
Pruitt, 57, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by mother, Effie Sermons; and sister, Patricia Sermons Ouzts.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mihwa Hill Sermons; daughter, Shelly Delane Sermons; 3 step daughters, Sonja Basulto, Felicia Fee and Candace Hill; and grandson, Bray Fee; father, Douglas D. Sermons; sisters, Debra Cook (Johnny) and Bernadette Bolton (Glenn).
Pallbearers will be Larry Murphy, Steven Murphy, Clint Murphy, Ronnie Malensek, Bobby Pruitt, Steven Davis, Tony Hughes and Trent Bolton. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Bolton, Johnny Cook, Sr. and Calvin Ouzts.

MANY YEARS AGO WHEN SCHOOL DRAFTED TWO
FROM THEN MY WORDS TELL THOUGHTS TO YOU
THERE I MET A LAD WITH A GENUINE SMILE
WE KNEW THAT WE'D BE BUDDIES ALL THE WHILE
A HEART AS KIND AS ONE COULD POSSIBLY BE
A SMILE SO BIG FOR ALL TO RELISH AND SEE
HIS LESSON OF PATIENCE AND KINDNESS HE LEFT
A FRACTION OF HIS EXAMPLE IF WE COULD HEFT
THAT SMILE RIGHT NOW IS BRIGHT AND BEAMING
FOR HE'S STROLLING THE GOLDEN STREETS GLEAMING
PRUITT TOLD ME OF HIS FAITH IN JESUS TO SAVE

I'm really going to miss Pruitt, he was such a kind, gentle, wonderful man. He loved to talk to everyone. He would always tell me how he would pick on my grandkids at school. He was a kind hearted man that loved everyone. Go be with your Momma & your Sister now Pruitt, no more pain & suffering and we will see you again one sweet day..

May we always remember Pruitt's life lesson. To treat others gently and kindly. I met Pruitt many years ago, when we were six years old. We have remained friends since then and will always be.
