Home Going services for Ezelene Perkins-Strother will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2015 in the Freedom Baptist Church of the Ten Mile Community with Brother Jeff James and Brother Wayne Squyres officiating. Committal service will follow in the Occupy #1 Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Ezelene, 76, of the Ten Mile Community, entered Heaven's Gate on Friday, November 13, 2015 in the Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital of Alexandria with her family at her side. She was born December 3, 1938 in Pitkin to the union of Ed Perkins and Alice Doyle-Perkins. She was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church since 1952, former Sunday School teacher, deacon's wife, and faithful to her church, even through her illness. She was the founder of the JOY Club in 1982 where she remained active until the time of her illness. She loved attending community singings and loved listening to southern gospel music. After her stroke, she ministered through the telephone, calling the sick and shut-ins. She was a former foster parent.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alvin Perkins, Larry Perkins, and Garry (Elaine Laird) Perkins, Sr.; and one niece, LaNell Knapp-Fee.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harold Arthur Strother of the Ten Mile Community; one daughter, JaNene Strother-Willis and husband Macy of Fullerton; one grandson, Huel Daniel "Buddy" Willis of Fullerton; four step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Perkins-Knapp of the Ten Mile Community; a host of nieces, and nephews; and great Special Friends, her little caregivers, Buddy, ReAnna, Karissa, Lanie, Kade, Carmen "Car-Car", Gavin, and Olivia.

Pallbearers to serve will be Macy Willis, Barry Dousay, Ritchie Dousay, DeWayne Perkins, Marlon Odom, Jacob Odom, Charley Morrow, Trent Doyle, Huel Willis, and Kade Morrow. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be members of Ezelene's Youth Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be held in the Freedom Baptist Church beginning on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., then on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.

A Special thanks to Thompson Home Health, Tri-Parish Home Health, Tri Parish Rehabilitation, Rosepine Rehabilitation, Dubuis Hospital, and Tracey Wilson.
