Mike Rogers Obituary

Mike Rogers

Mike Rogers, 69, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away July 23, 2016. He was born December 20, 1946, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late George Ervin and Martha Geraldine (Scroggin) Rogers. Mike was a member of South Winnfield Baptist Church in Winnfield, Louisiana, and attended Lake Valley Community Church in Hot Springs.

Mike graduated from Saline High School in Saline, Louisiana in 1964. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology from Northwestern State University in 1970. He was also a member of Louisiana National Guard. Mike worked his entire career in forest products, retiring in 2010 from Temple-Inland Corporation as complex manager.

Mike married his soulmate, Brenda Temple Rogers on June 23, 1967. They spent the most wonderful 49 years together and enjoyed traveling on cruises with friends from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Georgia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and corvettes. Mike and Brenda moved to Hot Springs in 2013 and were welcomed with open arms. He loved spending time on Lake Hamilton with his son, Keith Rogers, who both loved cheering for the LSU Tigers and especially their beloved New Orleans Saints (Who Dat). Mike was loved by all for his kind spirit and warm heart. He was the best Husband, Daddy, and Best Friend a wife and son could ever ask for. Mike will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Rogers; son, Keith Rogers (Sylvia Hickey) of Hot Springs; brother, George Rogers of Asheville, NC; sister, Beth Howard (John) of Framingham, MA; nephews, Mickey Usrey (Brenda) of Louisiana, Johnny Howard (Denise) of Massachusetts, Kent Rogers (Kim) of Utah; nieces, Vickie Stewart (Rob) of New Hampshire and Sharon McQuire (Ken) of Alabama.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

A celebration of Mike's life will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Valley Community Church with Pastor Lamar Trieschmann officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Skip Smith, Max Daughtry, Johnny Brister, Tommy Smith, William Brit, and Lewis Fussell. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Dale Usrey, George Rogers, Mickey Dale Usrey, Todd Robinson, Lynn Leonne, Johnny Howard, Kent Rogers, and John Howard.
