Jocelyn Jacob

Jocelyn Jacob, affectionately known as "Ms. Jackie", age 69, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 16, 2016. She was born February 1, 1947 in Marksville, Louisiana.

Jackie was a longtime resident and activist in the City of Alexandria. She was a current on-air personality and Operations Manager for KAYT 88.1 FM, The Heart and Soul of Cenla. She worked for the Mayor's office, ran for state office and was the previous Director of Utilities for the City of Alexandria. Additionally, Jackie worked at Cenla Community Action Center while serving as a board member for many years.

Jackie was a long time faithful member of The WORD Christian Center with Pastors Greg and Celeste Texada. She was a principle component in the creation of the "Living by the Word" broadcast with Pastor Greg Texada.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Hazel Jacob.

She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Katherine Young (John) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Khallid Shabazz (Rhonda) of Dupont, Washington, LaTrice Cushenberry (Adrian) of Atlanta, Georgia and Warren Martin of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Four sisters Aletha Wiggins of Portsmouth, VA, Marilyn Madison and Phyllis Culbert (Eddie Louis) of Alexandria and Barbara Houston (LeRoi) of Houston, Texas along with nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 22, 2016 immediately followed by a service at 11:00 AM at New Scott Olly Baptist Church, 2627 Willow Glen River Road in Alexandria, Louisiana with Pastor Greg Texada officiating.

A burial will take place at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 577 Cocoville Road in Mansura, Louisiana.

Sending my deepest sympathy to the family!!!!! I'm still lost and shaken , but I know she is in a better place now !!!! We loved her but God loved her best!!! She will be really missed by many and especially my granddaughter because she was her grand daughter too and was the best grandmother to Kiersten Martin!!!! To the Jacob's Family,
I have spent many years across the street from Mrs Jackie, she was a neighbor and friend. My kids spent time at her house and her kids spent time at mine. We would often meet and greet in the driveways , always pleasant never no mess. I'll miss seeing her. I often listened to her on the radio and I know she loved the Lord, so this is a tribute to Mrs Jackie:
" Although our hearts are heavy and with tear stained eyes, we know that you are at rest beyond the sky. No more hurt no more pain, everyday is sunny , there is no more rain. We know that you did your best ,now sleep on and get your rest!!
