THOMASTON - Mr. James William Welch, age 80, of Thomaston, Ga. died September 28, 2013 at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Welch was born on October 22, 1932 in Columbus, Ga. to the late James and Willie Lou Welch. He was employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation where he worked as a Utilities Engineer for 34 years and also worked with Coggins Funeral Home for 20 years. Mr. Welch was a member of The Gathering Church.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Welch of Thomaston, Ga.; daughters Mrs. Gail (Jeff) Stribling of Thomaston, Ga., Mrs. Cindy (Rick) Harden of Thomaston GA., Mrs. Lisa (David) Ellington of Thomaston, Ga.; brothers, Mr. Warren Welch of Thomaston, Ga., Mr. Gordon (Audrey) Welch of Thomaston, Ga.; sisters, Mrs. Martha (Charles) Metcalf of Tallahassee, Fla., Mrs. Mary (John) Gibbs of Thomaston, Ga., Mrs. Irma (Harry) Jennings of Tallahassee Fla., Mrs. Brenda (Cal) Harris of Thomaston, Ga.; sister-in-law Mrs. Gloria W. Conway; grandchildren Anna (Jason) Gassett, Evan Bell (Josh Key), Emily Harden, Lacy (Larry) Jackson, Lance (Lyndsey) Stribling; great-grandchildren, Bayleigh Jackson, Maddox Jackson, Avery Key, Lyla Stribling; care takers, Ms. Clara Jones, Ms. Brenda Walker.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Monday September 30, 2013 from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Gathering Church at 456 Hannahs Mill Rd., Thomaston GA 30286.
