Armando Piola Obituary

Armando Francis Piola passed away October 22, 2010 at St. Luke's Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Fortuna, CA at the age of 91. Armando was the second son of Simmone and Clementina (Pella) Piola, born on November 23, 1918 in Ferndale, CA. He spoke Italian as a child until he learned English while attending grade school in Alton, CA. As a youth, Armando worked on his father's dairy in Alton and he attended high school in Fortuna, CA. During his adult life, Armando worked on numerous farms in Humboldt County and other locations in California and Arizona as a laborer and mechanic. Towards the end of his career he worked for over 15 years for Redwoods United Workshop, retiring in the late 1980's. Since the 1970's, Armando lived primarily in Eureka and Arcata, CA but he also lived with his brother, Eugene, in Orleans, CA. Armando was known for his musical ability with the accordion and his generous and gentle nature. Armando's surviving relatives include his nephews Lee Piola and Bill Pattison, and numerous cousins and extended family. The date of funeral services has yet to be determined but services will be held at Gobles Fortuna Mortuary and Armando will be laid to rest with his brother and parents at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ferndale, CA Please sign the guest book at www.Times-Standard.com, click obits.

Sad to hear of Gene's passing, I remember visiting him & Peggy Billy,Sister ,& remember when Lee was born in Alton when my mother
would take us there Pat,Eldin, & I to visit on ocation. I also enjoyed
seeing him in Orleans quite often. lot of pleasent memory's
