Jeanne Eichin Obituary

passed away on Thursday October 14, 2010 in Fortuna California. She was 87 years old. Jeanne was born on May 13, 1923 in Hoquiam Washington to Edwin and Bernice Dickow. She was the oldest of four children. The Dickow family moved to the Garberville area in the late 1930's. Jeanne graduated from South Fork High School in 1941. She was senior class secretary treasurer, co-editor of the Redwood Log, managing editor of the Cub newspaper, Yell leader, and was involved in many other school activities. Jeanne married Carl Eichin in 1941, they were married for 53 years. She was a homemaker, a gardener, a seamstress, as well as working many years at Confusion Hill gift shop and Tree House gift shop. She and Carl lived in Piercy on the Eichin family homestead their entire married life. They loved to dance, and were members of the Garberville Dance Club. Jeanne was a cheerful person who enjoyed being around people. She enjoyed walking, and did so daily most of her days. She loved to travel and never missed a chance to go on a trip. She is survived by her sons, Fred and his wife Donna Eichin, of Piercy CA, Glen and his wife Debbie Eichin or McKinleyville CA. Grandchildren, Lisa and husband Russell Holmgren, Carl eichin and partner Christine Fagan, Eric Eichin and his partner Heather Craven, and Brad Eichin. Great grandchildren Laura and husband Grant Rogers, Drew and wife Heather Holmgren, Bret Holmgren, Jason Holmgren and Heather Eichin and her partner Loren Lair, Corbin Eichin and Carter Eichin. Great-great granddaughters, Emma Rogers, Grace Holmgren and Karissa Lair. Brother Jim and wife Carol Dickow. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Eichin, great-grandson Craig Eichin, sisters Eleanor Hawkins and Pat Dickow. Service will be private, with a celebration of her life in the spring.
