Norma Larkin Obituary

Our precious Norma Jean Larkin passed away November 15th, 2010, at home at the age of 84. Her amazing acceptance of cancer taught us all about the importance of family and life. Her family was everything to her. She is survived by her three sons, Wendell, Arnie and Warren, her seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and her beloved sister, Janice, who cared for her most of the 7 months. After Norma Jean was diagnosed with cancer, she began her good-bys and entertained many family and friends for the next 6 months. She dispensed her wisdom and advice with love and humor, and watched as her family came closer together. She stated that this cancer had been a blessing that brought all those she loved and cared for together for a living memorial. Norma Jean courageously faced her death with full acceptance, knowing her family was taken care of, and died in her home, surrounded by her beloved sons. There will be no memorial, for she felt the past months were her living memorial. There will be a small graveside ceremony in Oregon, were she will be buried next to her family. Please no flowers. If desired, any donations can go to Hospice of Humboldt who was so instrumental in Norma Jean's comfort these past months (2010 Myrtle Ave., Eureka, CA 95501). Her honesty, humor and faithful love will be greatly missed. Please sign the guest book at www.Times-Standard.com, click obits.

I love my grandma dearly, & hope that she is looking down on us with a smile on her face. She was one of the strongest people I've ever met, & her love for her family is something I'll always admire. She was more then a grandma, she was my best friend. I am so very proud to share her middle name. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever, & we'll never forget her.
