Veda Littlefield Obituary

went to the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2010 after a valiant battle with cancer. She died in Sonoma, California in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Anne Bearheart and Walt Prehn. She was surrounded by her devoted husband, Vaughn Littlefield, and her loving family. Veda worked for many years in the Northtown medical office starting with Dr. Bertelsen in 1956, staying with the same office through a long series of physicians who took over the office. She always said that "she came with the furniture." She loved her job and thrived on her connections with the patients. In retirement, Veda loved to play bridge. She loved her fellow bridge players who were so supportive to her during her illness. Veda and Vaughn loved working with their many beautiful flowers. Most of all, Veda's family was the pride and joy of her life as was demonstrated by her unfailing devotion to them. Veda was born in Loleta during a flood. She loved to tell how the doctor had to take a boat to deliver her. She grew up and attended school in Ferndale. She attended Los Angeles City College for one year. Veda was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Capaul and Josephine Gartman Capaul, who both immigrated to Ferndale from Switzerland; by her brothers Alex and John Capaul, by her sister Ann McKay, and her nephew, Mike McKay. She is survived by her loving husband, Vaughn Littlefield, her daughter Anne Bearheart and husband Walt Prehn of Sonoma, California, her son, Chris Littlefield and wife Debra of Lockeford, California, her ten grandchildren Jaycie, Dustin, Lauren, Avery, Heather, Paul , Elizabeth, Cassie, Matt, and Chrissie, and her five great-grandchildren Zach, Jonah, Sarah, Hayley, and Mackenna. Veda would like you to remember her laughter, her smile, her love of teasing, and her many good card games with her friends. She loved you all. At her request Veda's service will be private and requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice or one's favorite charity. To Veda's Family,
My mother Jan Halderman enjoyed Veda so very much. I'm guessing there's a fantastic bridge game going on somewhere with the two of them. My condolences to you all.

Dear Vaughn- I am so saddened to hear of Veda's passing. She was so full of grace with her illness and never complained. I received a very personal note from her after Tim & Brian died and remember her saying "why them when it could be me." She always had such a great laugh and smile and even though she wasn't feeling well she always took the time to ask me how I was doing. I felt great warmth and comfort from her and will think of her affectionately for the rest of my days. Please know that we are thinking of you in this difficult time, Vaughn.
In loving kindness,

Patrick McKay,Jr
