Shelly Goodrich Obituary

of Arcata passed away on November 24, 2011 in Eureka at the age of 50. She was born in Lakeview, OR on September 21, 1961, to parents Don and Mary Rosebrook. While attending schools in Southern Oregon, she excelled in gymnastics, track and diving, setting many school records. She moved with her family to Arcata and graduated from St. Bernard's High School in 1979 and later attended Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, OR. Married in 1984, Shelly had three wonderful boys, Shane, Casey and Cole. They were the lights in her life and she loved to spend time with them at Whiskeytown Lake, snow skiing, agate hunting on the beach, or at sporting events, especially soccer and baseball (never missing a game). Shelly spent many years making sure their lives were full and complete and filled with her unconditional love. Along with her boys, she adored her pets and always seemed to be nursing a stray back to health. She loved canning, cooking and baking and sharing it with those she cared about. She developed many friendships with customers and co-workers while working at Westwood Market for over 30 years. Above all, she loved taking care of her customers and they will forever remember her warm smile, chatty nature and the extra care she gave them. For those who could no longer travel to the store, Shelly would make a special trip and deliver their groceries right to their door. Pricilla Howard was one very special customer and neighbor who shared a wonderful friendship with Shelly over the years. Many good times were spent with all her "Murphy" cousins, especially with friend and cousin, Dana Holcomb. She is survived by her parents Don and Mary Rosebrook, her sons Shane, Casey and Cole, and her husband John Goodrich, all of Arcata. In addition, she is survived by her siblings Debbie Rosebrook (Doug Davis), Donny Rosebrook (Jennifer), and Susie Reeser (Bryan), all of McKinleyville, her brother-in-law George Goodrich (Liz) of Washington and sister-in-law Laura Lloyd (Spencer) of Florida. Anyone who knew Shelly also knows how she loved to spoil her much cherished nieces and nephews: Mae, Grace, Brook, Jake, Gwen, Georgie, Alex and Max, and of course, she is and always will be their special "fun" auntie. A Rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Paul's Chapel, Arcata, California. On Friday, December 2, 2011, a mass will be held at 11:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Arcata, California with Father Michael Cloney officiating. A reception celebrating her life will immediately follow at Leavey Hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Sequoia Humane Society, 6073 Loma Ave Eureka, California, 95503-6869 in memory of Shelly. To Shelly's family,
Shelly was and will always be my "special friend". The age difference between us did not matter at all. We did crazy things and serious things together, and could talk for hours. She was such a loving and caring person to everyone and to me and my family. Bless her always, and to her family, thank you again for sharing her with me for all these years.

Shelly what a good friend and co worker you were for many many years. It was great when your family came from Lakeview and to watch you kids grow up and all the weddings and all the babies to see you go thru. Seems like the only time you took off from work was to have a baby and then back to work. Thanks for all the great memories you will never be forgotten. Lv Ya Shelly Mike and Carol Combs

Darling Shelly, I am blessed to have had almost 30 years- with you as a friend! Preschool, play dates, "V-Vah-Vanessa," Discovery Museum, agate hunting (you were the BEST at that!), Christmas parties up here on the hill with the Goodrich family in attendance, your awesome prime rib, and best of all, that "Shelly Smile," always with time for a chat either at Murphy's or any place we would happen to run in to each other after our kids had all grown up.
Sending my deepest sympathy to your mum and dad, and to your family.
Until we meet again, dear Shelly, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
