I met Ruth in person only 3 or 4 times, but we were email friends with many interests in common for more than 25 years. I always admired and valued her, but after reading her obituary I realize I didn't know half of what she accomplished. She was one of a kind. I will make a donation to the San Francisco Women's Building in her memory.

Four of us got to visit Ruth one day in her apartment in her later years. She played her guitar and sang for us and it was a thrill I shall always cherish. Rest in Peace, my friend.

To Ruth's family ... I knew Ruth when I taught poetry at HSU. I liked her very much. Such a great poet and writer and activist. The world is less bright for her absence. But also brighter for her long presence with us. I'm privileged and honored to have known Ruth.
