Penny Hamilton Obituary

DANVILLE - On Nov. 20, 2015, Penny H. Hamilton, age 53, of West Danville (Joes Pond) passed away after battling cancer for several months. She was born in Montpelier, the daughter of Robert Douglas and Nancy E. (Pryor) Hamilton. She graduated from Spaulding High School, class of 1981. She worked at several area schools as a paraeducator and enjoyed helping special-needs individuals.
Penny had a great love of all animals but especially cherished her two greyhounds, Timer and Stinky. She loved horses and, in her younger years, attended many horse shows and jumping events.
Penny is survived by her son, Craig Fillion, of St. Johnsbury; her parents, Robert Douglas and Nancy E. Hamilton, of West Danville (P.O. Box 131); her brother, William Hamilton, and his wife, Cheryl Hamilton; her sister, Pamela Johnson; and numerous nephews and nieces in the St. Johnsbury area.
Penny was proud to be a donor to the UVM College of Medicine Anatomical Gift Program. A memorial celebration for Penny will take place this summer at Joes Pond with the details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a college education fund for Craig Fillion at Edward Jones. Please make checks payable to: Edward Jones F.B.O. Craig Fillion. Mail to: Edward Jones, 576 Railroad St., St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.

Doug and Nancy,
I am so very sorry to hear of Penny's passing. I have fond memories of her as a child on Elm St. I remember a specific Easter when Dad and Doug were chasing bunnys and chicks, that had escaped on Mannings lawn as a suprise for Penny, Pam and Billy. If there is anything I can do to help in this very sad time please don't hesitate to ask. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I'm so sorry for you loss. Penny was one of my first friends when we moved to Montpelier in 1972. We had recently reconnected online and it was so nice to chat with her. Rest in peace.

Remember the first time I met Penny. She was 2 years old! As fast as her parents would put her into her crib, she would crawl out! She was always so good to my younger children during the many weekends we spent with them, summer and winters at Joe's Pond. I will miss her genuine hug each time I saw her! May the good memories help her family through this time.
