Victoire Couture Obituary

BARRE TOWN - Victoire "Vickie" Lajeunesse Couture moved on to her next adventure on April 11, 2013. Vickie passed away comfortably at her home after a short illness with family and friends surrounding her with love.

Vickie, the youngest of eight children, was born to Leda Roy and Armand Lajeunesse on April 8, 1943, and made her life in Barre. Vickie attended St. Monica's School graduating from Marion High School, Class of 1961. Vickie met her husband, Roger Couture, sitting behind him in kindergarten class. Vickie and Roger were married on July 18, 1964.

Vickie was hardworking all her life. After graduating from high school, Vickie got her start in banking at the First National Bank of Montpelier. Vickie also worked in real estate, ultimately retiring from the VSECU Credit Union in 2008. In everything she did, Vickie had a gift for being patient and caring for people.

Vickie is predeceased by her parents and brothers, Red, Raymond and John. She is survived by her husband Roger, her daughter Cindy Couture Campos and husband Tony of Barre, Richard Couture and wife Alison of Barre, and Ken Couture and wife Ashley of St. George and by her 6 grandchildren who were the love of her life and twinkle in her eye, Alex, Alayna, Rachel, Olivia, Eric and Nate. She is survived by her sisters, Claire Brassard and her husband Norman, Mary Jane Plante and Margaret Guilmette-Fitts and her husband Homer, and by her brother Roland Lajeunesse and his wife Ronnie.

Vickie had creative gifts beyond compare and bestowed her friends, family and community innumerable treasures including her porcelain dolls, her sewing projects and most recently her jewelry creations.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mountainview Medical, all the health care providers from Central Vt. Home Health, and most especially Terry Boudreau.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church on 79 Summer St., Barre. Family and friends may call at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre on Monday, April 15th. from 7 to 9 p.m. Extra parking is available in St. Monica's parking lot.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in Vickie's memory, may be made to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, Vt. 05641.

Arrangements are in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.

To all of the Familes. Vickie was a pleasure to work with at VSECU and a good friend. She will be missed by many and this is a huge loss. Her heart was for everyone and a caring giving person. Her smile said it all no matter the conversation. I saw her not too long ago and as usual got a hug and a big smile. Heaven has got a great Angel and we got a sad loss. Prayers always.

I didn't know her personally but I came to know her when she worked at VSECU. She helped me through several difficult, tricky banking procedures. She was very helpful and friendly and patient with me as I navigated unknown territory. I remember one time especially when her friendly smile and patience were greatly appreciated. A great lady.
