Eugenia Buckley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 25 to Oct. 26, 2011.
Eugenia Garrison Buckley, of Sheffield, Ala., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Buckley was born and grew up in Birmingham, Ala., the daughter of William and Eugenia Garrison, the sister of Mary Alvis Cobb, Elizabeth Mayo, W.C. Garrison and William Edwards, all preceding her in death.
She graduated from Woodlawn High School and went to work at Southern Bell, where she met Ed Buckley, the man who would become her husband of 49 years until his passing in 1998.
In 1960, she and Mr. Buckley founded Certified Alarm Co. She was indispensable in the day-to-day operations, development and success of the company. For the past 14 years, she has been serving as Chairman Emeritus, keeping daily office hours until her recent illness.
She was a resident of Sheffield, Ala., for 46 years. She was a loyal member of Highland United Methodist Church for 43 years until it closed. She has been a member of First United Methodist Church in Tuscumbia for three years.
She leaves behind four forever grateful, blessed children, who loved her very much, daughter, Jeannie Hatchett and husband, Dr. Frank; daughter, Rebecca Buckley; son, Edward Buckley Jr. and wife, Theresa, all of Florence, Ala.; daughter, Terry Walker and husband, Allen, of Nashville, Tenn.; four granddaughters, Dr. Suzanne Hattchett, Clemson, S.C., Sarah-Grace Buckley, Birmingham, Ala., Shelley Buckley, Florence, Ala., and Dr. Anna Hatchett, Greenville, N.C.; nephews, nieces, many longtime friends and loved ones.
Mrs. Buckley, wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law will live on in our hearts and memories as the beautiful Christian inspiration that she always was.
Her visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m., with David Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Sharp, Rick Hill, Marlon Hamm, Kevin Grissom, Waylon Huguley and Charlie Douthit.
Honorary pallbearers will be Will Coker, Jack Wasson, employees of Certified Alarm Co. and Certified Contractors.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia, American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.

I am so sorry about the loss of your mom. I would have been at the funeral had I known. I was standing out in my yard talking on the cell phone and saw a police car, then a Certified Alarm van and then another one and another one and another one, followed by a hearse and I got so upset and asked my sister if she knew if (I don't get the newspaper; she does) and she told me and I was so upset that I didn't know in time. I loved your Mama so much. I saw her not long ago in the pharmacy and then again at the veterinarian's office (we take our dogs to the same place.) My heart is breaking for you and your family. Mrs. Buckley was a truly good person, a wonderful soul and nice to be around. You are all in my prayers.
