Joey's laughter and his beautiful, electric smile that lit up the atmosphere all around, his quick wit, my memory of him sitting in the back seat of our vehicle, memorizing the Bible as we were all driving to "somewhere" on a particular occassion, his incredible singing voice and playing skill, his love of family, his passion in everything he did and said, his big heart, his joy and sense of humor....I believe that God is pleased to have him in His absolute presence, and I am so sorry for your great loss, Kathy and family.

Joey was always smiling, caring, loving! The joy of knowing him in this life will only be exceeded by the Joey of seeing him again in the next. Brother, friend, musician/songwriter/praise leader extraordinaire, Man of God! That was our Joey. Loved by all. Missed by all.

Dear Kathy, Justin and Joshua, To say that I'm completely heart broken is an understatement. Currently I am in Las Vegas playing - otherwise I would be with you all. I am so sorry I cannot be there for you at this time, and all I know to do is pray. Joey was one of my best friends - but more importantly, he was my brother in the truest sense of the word. I know Joey and I hadn't talked in a while - but it definately doesn't make it easier at the news of his passing. I still cannot believe he is gone, and to be sitting here so far from home and looking at my brother's obituary is absolutely killing me. Please know I love you all so much and my heart is broken with yours. There is an emptiness inside my heart today as with yours. God bless you guys and hopefully one way or another we'll see you soon. You're in my heart and in my prayers. Rest in peace Joey - I love you bro - John

Joey was one of my dearest friends and Brothers in the world. We spent so many years together on the road with Will McFarlane and the band, not to mention playing bass with him in the worship band at Calvary Fellowship. When we were on the road, I would always get up early and go out and find coffee for everyone since I was usually the driver and straw boss for the band at getting us to and from services and concerts. Joey did wonderful things with his little studio upstairs at Calvary and for the equipment he had, he made excellent records and always had that same anointing he had when he sat down at a keyboard. I loved him so and will miss him dearly. Kathy, you were the most courageous wife I have ever seen in the midst of this awful infirmity Joey endured for years. I know it was as hard on you as it was on Joey, if not more, having to work and take care of a house full of special youngsters. God Bless you Kathy, you're my Champion.

I have many good memories of playing on Joey's worship team. The man and his music have been an inspiration to me. He will be sorely missed. I am priveledged to say that for a time I knew his heart and I can say he loved God! I wish I had known sooner. I would have been there. Kathy we love you! You have always had a special place in our hearts! May the spirit of the most high God brood over you and bring you sweet comfort. He will be remebered at Oasis Church in Amherst Virginia this Sunday. Sandy and I are devestated. I pray that God's peace will envelope you.

Joey Holder had an anointing to lead you into the Holy Place, I learned by following Joey into this Secret Place to touch the heart of God. This revelation through worshipping the Living Christ. has been the most profound influence in my life, I have been blessed to take the principles that I gleaned from Joey and show others the way there. They, in turn ,will lead the way for more and more to enter in to HIS presence.
As we see in a glass darkly, Joey now sees face to face, and as we go from Glory to Glory, and from strength to strength, and we go in and out. Joey now remains there forevermore.. Halleujah!

I had the pleasure of working with Joey several years ago on a recording session with Jimmy Johnson. Talent like that is God given. Not only a great talent but a good man and true to his family. He'll always have a special place in my heart because he sang at my mother's funeral. That's how much I thought of his talent. When I asked he was honored to do so. We'll miss you Joey you're one of a kind.

Kathy,
I pray God's continued strength be with you and your entire family now and in the coming days, may his peace embrace you knowing he has Joey in his arms. His work, through the talent that God gave him, is such a legacy to leave with us. His other, is his loving, caring and dedicated wife who was always there for him, wonderful children who were proud of his gift and who have gifts of their own that he himself were proud of. I pray these things will be a comfort to you
and give you peace. If we can be of any help please do not hesitate to call.
Love,
Jeremy and Donna Burns Sparks

I've cried and rejoiced I've remembered and longed to make more memories. But, I know this is all part of life here on this earth. Joey was a mentor, brother, friend and teacher. From the first drama team to the first trip to Russia, he was such an integral part of my life. I will miss him terribly but am so uplifted to know he is worshipping like his heart always longed to do, without restraints of this earth. I love you Kathy, Justin and Josh. And, while we'll miss him so badly, the memories he gave us and the promise we have, will keep our spirits up as we wait for that day and serve the KING Joey so loved, worshipped and lived for.

Kathy, Joey was always a blessing to Deb and me. We both loved his music, but most of all we loved his love for the Lord. Some of the quiet stands that Joey took on spiritual issues were an inspiration to me. I could go on and on and on. Joey truly blessed Deb and me with his music and his life. Now they both have a new body. They can both run and jump and dance throughout eternity giving praise to the one true God. I know that God will see you through the coming months. May He bless you richly with His love and grace.

It was a true pleasure knowing a true worshiper like Joey. It was an honor playing at his benefit show last year. I think knowing he never gave up and always stayed close to God is something we should all remember. Some people resent God when something like this happens but Joey never did. LOVe to U Kathy.

Joey Holder was one of kind. The writer of songs sung in churches all over the world, and a great human being. He's traded in the worn down body he had for a new one, and I couldn't be happier for him. Wish we could have had him longer. Loved him very much.
