It was his friendly, fun-loving spirit, dedication to professionalism as an elite appraiser, and underlying integrity that set him apart. Bill´s spirit will always be with us... because it was created by God and is everlasting. I still see his big smile... I knew him when he was 35-40.

Many years ago, as a fellow MAI from Charlotte, whenever I had an assignment in the Richmond and/or surrounding Virginia area, I would call on Bill for data. It didn´t take long in those days for the best MAIs to figure out who their real peers were and help each other out.
I knew Bill was smart, and very professional, and he was a brother-Barber. I also sensed that he was tough as nails, but I didn´t know about his sports background. I would have guessed he was a former Marine.
I always sensed that we had a whole lot more in common than I could tell from our brief interactions, and I sensed he felt the same.
To his family, and children, and particularly to his wife, my heart goes out to you. Consistent with all I´ve said already, my wife and I have also been married 49 years, and I am 69. So while I only knew him on the surface, this feels like I´ve lost a guy I always sensed I could have been best friends with. I know you guys must be hurting, because I know you lost one of the best there´s ever been. I will be thinking of y´all and keeping you in thoughts and prayers!!

My closest friend for almost 55 years. I won´t tell any of our terrible stories: like your stereo or the railroad tracks. Please know how much Martha and I will miss you my man.
