Lloyd Faye Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Feb. 4, 2010.
FAYE, Lloyd Henry, 89, died on January 26, 2010 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by Alice Reinkie Faye, his cherished wife of 62 years. He is survived by children, Donald Faye and wife, Susan, Dian Jackson and husband, Jack, and Robert Faye and wife, Sharron; grandchildren, Corby Faye, Frank Jackson, Erin Devine and husband, Nathan, and Kate Jackson; great-granddaughter, Ellah Devine; and his sister, Margaret Erickson of Superior, Wisconsin. Lloyd was born in 1920 in Sioux City, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1939-1943 completing 9 war patrols as Chief Machinist Mate on the submarine, USS Swordfish and in the Naval Reserve 1963-1967. He was a Mason. He worked for various companies in Richmond, Va. from 1951 until his retirement in 1987. In 1972 he realized his lifelong dream of owning his own business, Mechanical Enterprises, Inc. Lloyd designed and built many things, but his proudest achievement was the invention of the Flipclean Gutter System. In harmony with his view of the world, he has donated his body to science. He was well loved for his unique sense of humor and always cheerful nature. He will be missed by all of us who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be announced later.

My condolences go out to the family. I worked for Flipclean years ago, knew some of his family and always wondered about the man who invented such a remarkable system.

My family and I express deepest sympathy to you all. Lloyd and my Dad, Carl Francis Seal from Newtown worked together at Sydnor Pump & Well many years ago when I was a little girl. They were friends and had kept in touch for years off and on. Dad passed away last Feb.2009 from lung cancer so we know what you are going through. I am sorry to hear of Lloyd's passing. We have you all in our prayers and thoughts. Your Mom and Dad were very nice people.

My deepest sympathy in the passing of Mr. Faye. Even thought I did not know him, but as an owner of Flipclean gutters his obit was of great interest to me and my family. The gutters were recommeded to us by a neighbor and we really love the gutters. What a remarkable man and wish I could have told him how much we like the gutters, so I decided to pass this info on to Mr. Faye's family. Thank you.
