FOWLER, Robert Hudson Sr. "Bob," of Midlothian, passed away on February 15, 2011 after a valiant battle with melanoma. He was born on July 21, 1938 in Monroe, N.C., to Lillie Belle and Walter C. Fowler. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, David Wayne Fowler. He leaves to cherish his memory his spouse of 50 years, Mona Batrouny Fowler. He is also survived by his two sons, Robert Hudson Fowler Jr. and his spouse, Caroline, plus their children, Alex, Hanna and Eric; and Michael Walter Fowler and his spouse, Angie, plus their children, Bridget, Patrick and Luke. He is also survived by his daughter, Maria Cristine Fowler Glagola and her husband, Mike, plus their children, Jack and Henry. He is also survived by his mother, Lille Belle Fowler of King, N.C.; his sister, Mrs. Becky Walkup and her husband, Bob, of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gay Fowler of Blacksburg, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Bob's true passion was his family and he unconditionally loved his wife, three children and eight grandchildren. Beyond his family, his favorite thing to do was travel, and he and Mona enjoyed seeing the far corners of the world together on 27 different cruises, traveling to such faraway places as Egypt, Russia, South America, Australia, the Holy Land, and Mona's native Lebanon, among many, many other locales. He retired from the Rust-Oleum Corporation with over 32 years of service, the last 20 years as a Mid-Atlantic District Manager, where he was loved and respected by his distributors and customers alike. He was a longtime member of Bon Air United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and greeter on Sunday mornings. Bob proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Europe during the Cold War period of the late '50s before earning an honorable discharge in 1959. He met the love of his life, Mona, in Charlotte, N.C. in 1959 and proposed shortly thereafter. They were married on June 26, 1960 and enjoyed 50 wonderful years together, raising their children and living life to the fullest. Bob will be truly missed by all his family, friends and others. The family will receive visitors on Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, at Bon Air United Methodist Church, 1645 Buford Rd., Richmond, Va. A reception will be held immediately thereafter in the Church Fellowship Hall. Graveside services will be private.
