Sheryl Benson Obituary

Published by Woody Funeral Home Parham - Richmond on Feb. 19, 2011.
BENSON, Sheryl Clark, 69, of Lanexa, passed away February 17, 2011, following cardiac surgery. She was the daughter of Thelma and the late Robert H. Clark. She attended T.J. High School, where she met her beloved husband of 52 years, Jerry. After raising three children, Catherine, Douglas and Kristin, she pursued a career in real estate. Later she and her husband owned and operated Nightfire Entertainment Services. For the past 23 years, she was a senior entertainment agent with East Coast Entertainment. She was highly respected in the entertainment business for her knowledge, integrity and uncompromising standards. Sheryl was a bright, beautiful and unique woman, who was loved by all who knew her. She was imbued with the spirit of giving, hence her love of shopping. She also loved reading, fashion, home decorating, politics and spending time with her devoted family. Our mother, sister, wife, friend and colleague will be missed beyond belief. We cannot imagine a world without Sheryl in it. Sheryl left a rich legacy. Cherishing her life and memory are her husband, Jerry; mother, Thelma Clark; brother, Bob Clark and wife, Barbara; Sheryl's three children, Catherine, Douglas and wife, Tina, Kristin Benson Kaminski and husband, Steven; sister-in-law, Beverly Doub; brother-in-law, Chris Benson and wife, Cathy; three grandchildren, Benson and Annaliese Kaminski and Jaime Morgan; nieces and nephews, Warren Doub, Tracy Doub, Lori Doub, Jay Clark, Jon Clark, Scott Benson, Elisa Attkinson and Logan Benson. The family will receive visitors Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., where a memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2011. Interment to follow at Westhampton Memorial Park. Condolences may be offered at woodyfuneralhomeparham.com.

I am deeply saddened at the news...she will be greatly missed. I have the fondest memories of long conversations where I felt guilty for taking up so much of her time but she was so genuinely interested in what people had to say...a great listener...so wise. It's no surprise how many folks use words like "integrity," "favorite person," etc. She was all of that and so much more.

I had the privilege of meeting Sheryl back a few months ago through my niece Nancy Oliver. Not only did Nancy and Sheryl work together in the office, they also traveled together in their jobs. Nancy always loved it when she and Sheryl could spend time together. Nancy shared with me what a amazing woman Sheryl was and how much she had learned from Sheryl, not only in the entertainment business but life in general. Nancy loved Sheryl dearly and will forever miss her friendship.

With deepest sympathy to Sheryl's family and friends.
