Ruth Allen Obituary

Ruth J. Allen, 89, of Ladysmith, died Monday, January 30, 2006, in Henrico Doctors Hospital. Born in Danville, she was a longtime resident and storekeeper, with her husband, in Ladysmith, where she was active in her churches and community. She was the widow of Garland Allen and Woody Barlow. Survivors include her children, Patricia Acors of Ladysmith, Judith Broaddus of Richmond, Donna Bounds of Ladysmith, Cynthia McInteer of King William and Garland L. Allen of Dawn; a sister, Ruby Zabawa of Arlington; a half sister, Koba Hockaday of Richmond; a half brother, Kenneth Jones of Ladysmith; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 2, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruther Glen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. If unable to attend the services, you may sign the register book online at www.storkefuneralhome.com

I was so sorry to hear over the weekend of your mother's passing. We always enjoyed visiting with her and she always enjoyed seeing my dogs and watching them do tricks. We will miss her.
