She was like a Mother to me. She took time with me without anyone else knowing. She lived on me and made me feel heard as a child when I used to run away from home.

Valerie was a key part of the management of Census 2000. Her management and leadership skills were so important to it's success. I met her in 1988 after arriving in Virginia for a position offer from the Governor. She assisted me in navigating Virginia's political environment. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

"For as long as he liveth, he shall be lent to the Lord" - I Samuel 1:28

Aunt Val truly exemplified this passage in her everyday life. She will always be remembered by me as a woman of great Dignity, Grace, Intellect, Drive and Poise. She was a woman who was committed to speaking life into those who carried heavy burdens and in everything, giving Christ all the Praise. Her life, her story and her walk with Christ has always inspired me to strive to do better and never become complacent. My heart is heavy with the loss of this phenomenal woman who taught me so much. However, I do understand that with this transition it is our loss but her gain.

Pastor Valerie was a regal, charming and wonderful Woman of God. I will miss her indelible smile and her soft-spoken words of wisdom. At Chic Chapeau we could merely crown her head with earthly greations. Now God has crowned her soul with eternal life! My continual prayers are extended to all who share this time of sorrow. May you know the peaceful assurance that the gates of heaven swung open wide as the holy host of angels ushered her to her mansion in the Kingfom of God!

Overseer and the First Family, I know that there is no words that can be said to ease the pain that your hearts are feeling right now. But know that I have never met any one like Pastor Val, when I lost my natural mother she step in to her place, she gave me love and understanding and words of wisdom even when you did not ask for it, but what ever she said and gave it was from what God had given her to share, I know she is in heaven, in the front row, with her white robe on getting her praise and shout on. I will miss her more then words can say..Keep her in our (your) hearts and maybe one day the pain will not hurt as much. Loving you all in Jesus Name

Dear Co-Pastor Valerie Taylor

I first wanted to let you know that I love you. You were there for me through the toughest times in my life. You reassured me that life was going to get better and that everything will be ok. You helped me remember how good God's love can be and how much he is really there for everyone. You helped me feel better about myself even though there were times I couldn't stand being with myself in the same room. It breaks my heart that I will not be able to see you again until that day I meet you in heaven. But I realized that I am being selfish with my saddness, your in a much better place and I am happy for you. I love you co-pastor and will miss you very much.
Love, Felecia Kurtz
Rest In Peace

Let not you hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go and prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
