CHANDLER, Richard Allen Sr., 84, of Richmond, died Thursday, June 17, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his children, Richard Allen Jr., Holly Chandler Shumaker, Kent Chandler Elander, Carrie Mallett Haneckow and Nathan Charles Mallett; nine grandchildren; sister, Patricia Chandler Smith; nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., and where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice or The Navy Memorial, 701 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004.

Richard was the greatest tour guide in Virginia. I loved coming to visit, and learned more from him, than in all of the history books. A true Southern Gentlemen in every way and one of Richmonds finest. I will miss my brother-in-law and treasure what he taught me.
