FREED, Lawrence Douglas "Pepper," 78, of Glen Allen, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 20, 2010 with his daughters by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Anne Freed. He is survived by his two daughters, Katherine Lawanna Shahinian and Karen Anne Jones and her husband, Stuart; three grandsons, Branden Cluka, Colt Jones and Houston Jones; his brother, Carl Hunter Freed and his wife, Joyce; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and a loving and dear friend, Loleta Holland. Pepper retired as a machinist and had a passion for dancing, golf and fishing. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where a celebration of life service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, September 24, followed by a reception at the home of Lawanna Shahinian. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Professional Healthcare Service and Odyssey Hospice and their staff for all they have done.
