MARGARET LIGON

LIGON, Margaret "Maggie" C., 67, passed away Wednesday, June 16, in her Richmond, Va., home in the care of her husband, Howard, following a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's. Maggie was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., grew up in Washington, D.C., and raised her family in Springfield, Va. She is survived by her husband, Howard C. Ligon; daughters, Allison Rea, married to Chris, and their two daughters, Rose and Lily, of Richmond, Va., Kerrie Metschan, married to Kent, and their two daughters, Layne and Mallory, of Austin, Texas; son, Andrew Ligon, married to Audrey, and their three children, Owen, Nora and Jesse, of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Dennis Croake of Beltsville, Md.; and a sister Katherine Dockeray and her husband, William, of Columbia, Md. Maggie was a devoted wife, incredible mother, grandmother and avid animal lover, especially her dogs. She found such joy in taking daily walks, reading a good book and was a dedicated runner most of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and celebrated life's little moments. Until the very end, her sweet spirit shined through, bringing smiles to all around her. Maggie was a fun and sassy lady that we will miss so dearly. A service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
